Staple Scents

While at the gym the other day, I was running on the treadmill, minding my own business, when a group of three high school boys strolled into my row of treadmills and each took their place, one after the other, right beside me. I was a bit perplexed as to why they came next to me, seeing as how the gym was nearly empty, but I chose to ignore them and continued jamming to Salt N Pepa's "Shoop." After a few minutes (probably when the male rapper makes his debut and hopes to "kick it" with S and P) I smelled something. Something not good. Something not just not good, but actually pretty horrible. That's right, B.O.

Young kids, bless their hearts, NEED to know the importance of deodorant. I'm going to instill this in my children when they're in diapers. Needless to say, the rest of my run was awful and I had to breathe through my mouth.

But, this did get me thinking about smelling good - and smelling good with perfume, in particular. I'm pretty loyal when it comes to my perfumes. I've realized it's taken me so long to find just the right scents (not too musky, not too sweet and not too floral) and I'm not going to stray.

So, without further ado, I give you my Staple Scents:

This perfume is killer. I have been wearing it since high school and I truly can't get enough. A perfect blend of rose and amber, this scent is the epitome of femininity in a bottle.

Daisy, Marc Jacobs
I, by chance, came upon this perfume while wandering through a department store one day. I was handed one of those perfume cards (which I normally toss), but I caught a quick whiff and was immediately hooked. Super light and soft, it's a sublime floral fragrance with a vintage edge.

Black Amethyst, Bath & Body Works I've mentioned my affinity for this fragrance in a previous post. There's honestly only one word to describe it - sensual. This is the perfume I put on before a special occasion, when I want to feel confident and glamorous. And with a price tag of $12 a bottle, you can't beat it!
