At the advice of Rachel Bilson (courtesy of my latest Lucky mag), I decided to give the matte nail polish trend a whirl. I headed to my local beauty store and ended up selecting OPI's "You Don't Know Jacques!" (the grayish color) mainly because I own this polish in the non-matte formula (and I LOVE it) and also because it seemed the least severe given my options (neon green and pink, wite-out-looking white and dark blue and purple, which both looked jet black on the swatches).I was pleasantly surprised with the polish. Definitely unique, different and a fun change from my standard, glossy painted nails. What's weird is it goes on completely normal so I half expected it to dry that way, but within seconds it's matte! Brilliant!
The good news is it dries immediately, and I mean IMMEDIATELY! I've gotten so accustomed to sitting with my hands outstretched, careful not to touch anything for at least an hour with my regular polish, so I was beyond shocked to be up and moving right away. The bad news is it doesn't last very long. The tips of my nails were already pretty chipped by the following day (BUT, touch ups are a breeze when the polish dries super fast!).
All in all, I'm happy I tried it out and I'm thinking of adding some new matte nail polishes to my makeup bag!
